No Condemnation in Christ

No Condemnation in Christ

Romans 8:1-2:
"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus,[a] who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death."Definition of condemnation: "an expression of strong disapproval; pronouncing as wrong or morally culpable; the act of declaring one guilty and dooming him to punishment"

As we can see from the above definition of the word condemnation which is one of the key words in this passage; those who are in Christ do not have any sentence of punishment on them. There is therefore Now No Condemnation (strong disapproval) for those who are in Christ Jesus. There is no disapproval of you and no pronouncement of guilt on you because you are in Christ Jesus. If you are in Christ, God has accepted you, for, "He made us accepted in the Beloved" Ephesians 1:6. Yes, believe it and be free.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, if there be any whispers or traces of guilt and condemnation in your life and conscience, I want to guarantee you that God is not the source of it. God is in the business of salvation and reconciliation and not condemnation. The Holy Spirit convicts of sin and does not condemn. He reveals the goodness of God to us and not His disapproval. For it is the goodness of the God that leads us to repentance (Romans 2:4) and not His disapproval and judgment as we have been lied to for many centuries. God is not distant and angry.

I can imagine you thinking out loud and saying; "this is too good to be true. Does it mean that anything goes? Is there no more right or wrong?" Off course it is "too good to be true" for that is the nature of the gospel of Christ. The gospel is good news, yes real good news. You see, the qualifying statement in verse one of Romans 8:1 is this; "who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit." Therefore by implication, there's condemnation for those who are not in Christ, and there's condemnation also for those who are in Christ, but are walking according to the flesh. Can you see that in there? It is clear, isn't it?

Walking according to the flesh is simply not conforming your life to the word of God. Jesus said in John 6:63 "The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life." Believing the word of God and walking by it causes you to walk according to the spirit. And when you do that, there's no condemnation towards you because you are not walking according to the flesh. Walking according to the flesh is following the dictates of your five senses, your emotions and reasoning over the revealed word of God, and patterning your life in that way. In Matthews 4:4 Jesus said, "It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’" We walk by faith and not by sight. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. Walk in the spirit and you will not fulfill the desires of the flesh. Every time we get out of walking in the spirit and walk according to the flesh, we subject ourselves to condemnation.

"For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things." (1 John 3:20) If at any time you walk according to the flesh, your heart will disapprove of your actions and the way to fix that is to understand his verse. If your heart condemns you in any area or action of yours, God is greater than your heart. Know that God will disapprove of it as well. Stop it and repent. Change directions and walk in the spirit which is the word of God, and life will flow through you. Now then, if your heart still condemns you after you have repented according to this verse; "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9), God is greater than your heart. Believe the word which is spirit and walk after it and there's therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.

God bless you all
