Our Pastor

Born in Cameroon, James Ekor-Tah came to know Christ in 1989. This happened when as a young student in the town of Kumba, he met and became friends with Robinson Fondong who introduced him to Christ. Together, they started a Bible club in their high school, (CCAS Kumbas), through which many students came to Christ and were baptized. He was also part of the local CMFI Church, serving as a youth leader, under the leadership of late Rev. Dr. Simon Epamba,
In April 2004 James moved to South Africa where he attended the DTS (Discipleship Training School), Genesis School (School of Pioneering and Church Leadership) at the YWAM (Youth with A Mssion) Base of Worcester. He holds an ACS (Associate Degree in Christian Studies) and a BCh.M (Bachelor of Church Ministries) from The Sure Foundation Theological Institute. During his training for ministry traveled to India for a field assignment and cross cultural ministry exposure. He also participated in many community outreaches and prisons ministry at the Youth Correctional Center.
As a youth Pastor at the CMFI Church in Johannesburg, South Africa, he was involved in the Youth Ministry and Administrative Affairs under the supervision of Dr. Leandre Kwawou, National Director for CMFI South Africa. In November 2006, he moved to the United States and married his sweetheart, Julienne. He served as a leader at CMFI in Westminster, MD before moving to New Carrolton, MD to Pastor the newly started CMFI Riverdale assembly.
Pastor James is a gifted and dynamic Bible Teacher who is deeply burdened for the believers, especially those he pastors, to know the truth about God’s word, so that they may be victorious and fulfill their God given destinies in Christ. His burden is to see the lost saved, the sick healed, the distressed relieved, the broken restored, the oppressed delivered and the discouraged empowered to victory.
He is a missionary who is burdened to see whole families come to Christ and to serve God with all their heart. Above all, as a missionary, he is committed to the world wide vision of the CMFI: “Go and make disciples of all nations.” Consequently, he works hard to establish a solid multi-ethnic congregation with the same missionary vision.
Pastor James is married to his sweet-heart Julienne Ekor-Tah who is a dynamic woman of God and a faithful partner in the ministry which God has entrusted unto them. They are blessed parents of three beautiful girls, Elizabeth Grace, Madeleine Shekinah and Jamie Rhema.
